Bungie has announced further details about its upcoming shooter Marathon, releasing promotional material ahead of the launch. The developer confirmed the release date and provided additional context about the game's availability and reception during open testing.
Marathon is scheduled to launch on March 5 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The base edition is priced at $40. The game has been fully localized into Russian, but it is currently unavailable through the Steam storefront for the Russian region and players encounter an error referenced as "tapir." Workarounds and fixes for that issue have been documented by community and editorial sources.
Prior to release, Bungie published statistics from the game's open test. Among the most obtained in-game items were 145,822 packs of premium milk for mites and 384,866 cans of drinkable cheeseburgers. The testing period also produced extensive death statistics: testers recorded a total of 16,554,683 character deaths, of which 9,152,844 occurred in PvP encounters. The remaining 7,401,839 deaths were caused by AI-controlled opponents identified as UESC robots.
Bungie framed these figures as part of post-test reporting intended to highlight player behavior and in-game economies observed during the open testing window. The developer is expected to continue refining the game ahead of the March release, taking into account feedback and the telemetry gathered during the test phase.
