Russian esports player Abdul Gasanov, better known by his in-game name degster, has voiced support for Valve adding the classic map Cache to the official CS2 map pool. He believes that with some modest adjustments, Cache could take Inferno’s spot across tournaments and become a viable competitive alternative.
The player argued that Cache used to be an excellent map and only needs a few visual and layout refinements to reach its former strength. In his view, some of the current foliage is excessive and should be reduced; after those changes, Cache would be an ideal replacement for Inferno.
Degster also emphasized that adding Cache to the map pool would, in theory, bring a well-balanced battleground and fresh, interesting content for tournament play. He expressed hope to see an updated version of Cache released within the next year, saying that’s what he’s counting on.
The statement was published with the original spelling and punctuation preserved.
Earlier, Valve appeared to hint at Cache’s possible return to the official map rotation in 2026. The developer left a social media post that featured the radiation hazard symbol, which many interpreted as a tease about bringing Cache back.
