Duffer Brothers Announce New Stranger Things Spinoff
Creators of Stranger Things Say a New Spinoff Is Coming, Promising Fresh Mythology and Some Answers

The Duffer brothers, creators of the Stranger Things series, have confirmed they will produce another television series set in the same universe. In an interview with a major entertainment outlet, they said the new spinoff will give fans some answers to questions left open after the main show concluded.

While the Duffers did not provide a release date or production schedule, they offered a few hints about the story. They indicated the plot will involve an object tied to Henry Creel’s past and suggested the series will explore different corners of the franchise’s backstory. At the same time, they made clear that certain enigmas—most notably the secrets surrounding the Mind Flayer—are likely to remain unresolved in this new project.

The creators described the spinoff as an opportunity to investigate an entirely new mythology within the Stranger Things world. “It will be a very fresh project,” they said, emphasizing that the series is intended to expand the franchise rather than simply repeat familiar elements.

Stranger Things first premiered in the summer of 2016 and, over the course of nearly ten years, grew into one of Netflix’s flagship shows. The series spans five seasons and a total of 42 episodes, with the final installment released on the night of January 1.

Other related projects are already in development: Netflix plans to release an animated series titled Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 in 2026. That animated entry is intended to depict events that took place between the second and third seasons of the original show.

For now, fans can expect the Duffers to continue expanding the Stranger Things universe on their own terms—offering new stories and partial answers while preserving the sense of mystery that helped define the original series. Further details, including casting and timing, are expected to be announced at a later date.
