Aniplex has announced a new feature-length anime film set in the Kaguya-sama: Love Is War franchise. The announcement followed the conclusion of the special episode titled Kaguya-sama: Love Is War — The Stairway to Adulthood. Organizers have shared only limited information so far about the upcoming movie.
According to the available reports, this new film is intended to serve as the definitive conclusion to the entire Kaguya-sama storyline. It has also been revealed that the cinematic ending will differ from the manga’s conclusion: the author of the original work, Aka Akasaka, will write the film’s original ending specifically for this adaptation.
Kaguya-sama: Love Is War is an anime adaptation of Aka Akasaka’s romantic comedy manga. The story centers on two brilliant high-school student council officers — president Miyuki Shirogane and vice-president Kaguya Shinomiya — who are secretly in love with one another but refuse to confess out of pride, each trying to force the other into admitting their feelings first.
The anime series first premiered in 2019 and has since produced three seasons. It enjoys strong audience ratings, with an average user score of about 8.5 out of 10 on IMDb and roughly 8.1 out of 10 on the Russian site Kinopoisk. In 2022 the franchise also released a previous feature-length film that continued the story, and this newly announced movie is positioned as the culminating chapter for the adaptation.
