Ubisoft employee's plea prompts Rockstar to reportedly make arrangements for a terminally ill fan to play Grand Theft Auto VI prior to release

Rockstar Games appears prepared to allow a single fan to play Grand Theft Auto VI before its official release, after a public appeal posted on LinkedIn. The message, written by Anthony Armstrong, drew attention when he described a personal situation involving a relative whose last wish is to experience the upcoming game prior to launch.

Armstrong, an employee of Ubisoft Toronto, addressed colleagues at Rockstar and others in the games industry in his LinkedIn post. He explained that a family member had been diagnosed with cancer and given an estimated six to twelve months to live. The relative's expressed dream was to play GTA VI, and Armstrong said the person was willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement and travel to a studio — they live nearby — in order to fulfill that wish.

Rockstar did not immediately respond publicly to the initial appeal, but Armstrong later updated the post, saying he had "great news" following talks with the studio. That addition strongly suggests Rockstar agreed to make special arrangements so the fan can play the game before its official release date.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. However, reporting from journalist Jason Schreier has indicated the project remains in active development and that a November release is not guaranteed, leaving some uncertainty about the timeline despite the announced date.
