Film critics have published their reviews of Scream 7. On the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes the new installment received 47% approval from critics, reflecting a mixed reception ahead of the film's release.
That score makes Scream 7 the second-lowest rated entry in the franchise to date; only the third film in the series earned a poorer critical response. Reviewers most often pointed to a predictable storyline and a lack of the sharp humor that earlier entries sometimes delivered.
Among the positives, critics singled out the performances of the principal actors, noting strong work from the leads. At the same time, several reviewers found that not all of the newly introduced characters were particularly engaging or memorable.
Scream 7 is scheduled to premiere on February 27, 2026. The film marks the return of original heroine Sidney Prescott, played by Neve Campbell, who had been absent from the sixth installment due to financial disagreements with the studio.
