Alphabet reports YouTube brought in more than $60 billion in 2025; advertising growth was modest due to weaker political ad demand

Alphabet disclosed that YouTube delivered more than $60 billion in revenue for the 2025 fiscal year, according to the company’s financial statement. This figure covers the service’s full range of income streams reported for the first time.

For the first time, YouTube broke out revenue from all sources, including paid subscriptions and direct contributions to creators. Advertising revenue accounted for $11.38 billion of the total, an 8.7% increase compared with the prior year but below analysts’ expectations. Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said the shortfall was partly caused by a decline in orders for political advertising.

The $60 billion result ranks YouTube as the second-largest entertainment media business by revenue, behind only Disney, which reported $95.7 billion, and ahead of Netflix, which earned $45.18 billion in 2025. The disclosure underscores YouTube’s continued importance to Alphabet’s overall business mix, even as advertising dynamics shift.
